Sleeping in your Car With the Engine Running Could Be Fatal as Two Men Are Found Dead in Parked SUV

Two men found dead in parked SUV

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two men were found dead in a vehicle parked at the Juru rest and recreation on the North-South Expressway here last night (Friday).
In the 7.30pm incident, Ong Cheng See, 39, and Rizuan Ismail, 35, were found motionless, seated on the front passenger seats of their four-wheel-drive parked at a petrol station here with the engine running.
Fuel pump attendants had not noticed anything unusual to the car and had assumed the duo were napping.
Hours later, the attendants realised something was amiss after they were seen lying 'asleep' for many hours.
The attendants then rocked the locked car in an attempt to wake them up, but failed.
Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said initial investigations revealed the duo had probably died due to inhalation of exhaust fumes.
"We are looking at the closed-circuit television camera footage to check for foul play," he said when contacted.
The bodies have been taken to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police have classified the case as sudden death.
