Selangor MB crisis: Pakatan picks Wan Azizah as sole candidate, Azmin declines nomination

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Rakyat will propose Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole candidate for the Selangor Mentri Besar post.
The announcement was made by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following Pakatan's presidential council meeting on Sunday.
He said that the decision was reached by way of consensus although PAS had earlier proposed PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali as the second candidate for the post.
Anwar said that Azmin had agreed that Dr Wan Azizah would be named as the Selangor MB.
"With this, Pakatan will go ahead with the process of proposing Wan Azizah as the MB," he told reporters at a press conference here Sunday.
Azmin, who also spoke at the press conference, thanked the PAS leadership for the support and said he decided to decline to be the second candidate in line with PKR's decision of only naming Dr Wan Azizah.
Also present at the meeting were DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and PAS deputy president Mat Sabu.
