Tunku Alizakri named new EPF CEO

PETALING JAYA: Tunku Alizakri Alias has been appointed as the Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) new chief executive officer.

According to a press statement on Saturday (Aug 4), he will be replacing Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan who was recently named as Khazanah Nasional Berhad managing director.

Both of them are scheduled to report for duty on Aug 20.

Alizakri joined EPF in 2014 as the deputy CEO (Strategy), where he oversaw national policies on social protection, developing the fund's products and services.


Alizakri had also previously worked at Bank Negara Malaysia, the Iclif Leadership and Governance Centre, DiGi Telecommunications, Maybank and Sime Darby.

Alizakri holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from King's College, University of London.

He has been admitted as an advocate and solicitor in the Court of Malaya, and has qualified as a Barrister (Lincoln's Inn) in the courts of England and Wales.

Meanwhile, EPF chairman Tan Sri Samsudin Osman said EPF was pleased with the appointment.

"It is a validation of our robust succession planning which has enabled the Minister of Finance to choose a suitable internal candidate," he said.

Samsudin also expressed his appreciation to Shahril for playing an instrumental role towards the growth of the state-run pension fund.

"Datuk Shahril is a prime example of dedication and professionalism. On behalf of the EPF, I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Datuk Shahril for his exemplary service at the EPF.

"We congratulate him on his appointment and wish him all the best. I have no doubt that Khazanah will benefit from his experience in making the EPF therespected organisation it is today", he added.
