PETALING JAYA: Any individual that endangers others while attempting the viral Keke Challenge illegally might be slapped with a fine, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) warns.

The Keke Challenge requires a person to jump out of a slow moving car and dance to the song In My Feelings by Drake.

According to JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid, if the act endangered others or caused accidental collisions, a fine might be imposed.

For now, the department will examine the legal provisions.

Shaharuddin was speaking to the media after visiting the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam yesterday.

The dance became a craze when comedian Shiggy uploaded a video of him getting jiggy to the tune, gaining five million views in a short time. It exploded further when celebrities Will Smith and Ciara copied the dance.

The police have also warned the public to stop the Keke Challenge on the road, with City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya stating that other people could get hurt.

KUALA LUMPUR: The current craze of dancing on the road while being recorded inside a moving car doesn’t seem to be cooling down.
The fad, dubbed the Keke Challenge or the In My Feelings Challenge, has even inspired local celebrities like Janna Nick, Fasha Sandha and Siti Sarah to bust their moves while on the move.
The trend was popularised by American social media star and comedian Shiggy, who posted a video clip of himself dancing on the street to the Drake song, In My Feelings, on Instagram.
After going viral a few weeks ago, people started following in his footsteps but with an added slowly-moving car twist.
Shiggy, who has over 1.7 million Instagram followers, had recently advised people not to carry out the challenge outside a moving vehicle.
His post read: “#InMyFeelingsChallenge is not about getting out of a moving car!"
The authorities of several countries around the world, including Malaysia, have also issued stern warnings that the challenge was a dangerous activity for those attempting it and for other road users as well.
Some Netizens, who posted their versions of the challenge online, have given accounts of their close brushes with accidents.

Thankfully, there haven’t been any major mishaps reported so far.
