KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Shaariibuu Setev, the father of slain Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, has not given up hope on finding justice for his daughter. Now on his sixth trip to Malaysia, he is hoping that his efforts will finally lead to the 12-year-old murder investigation being reopened.

Dr Shaaribuu, who met with Attorney-General Tommy Thomas on Tuesday, said his latest visit to Malaysia was to obtain closure, establish the truth and find out who ordered his daughter’s killing. "A lot of things have happened here. There was a lot of injustice. This case has been going on for too long and is beset with problems.

"If there was a problem, why didn't they just handcuff her and send her back to Mongolia? Why did they have to kill her?" he said.

Dr Steve Shaariibuu is in Malaysia to seek justice and to reopen the investigation into the murder case of his daughter, Altantuya Shariibu.

Altantuya was shot twice and her remains were reportedly blown up with military grade C-4 explosives in a forested land near Shah Alam, Malaysia in 2006.

Speaking to reporters via an interpreter at the office of his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh prior to meeting Thomas, Shaaribuu said his family had endured a hellish time over his daughter’s murder. "I have returned to Malaysia to seek justice for my murdered daughter,” he said.

Altantuya, he said, was the family’s sole breadwinner and has two sons, one of whom is disabled and bedridden. Shaaribuu said he did not expect that he would get an opportunity to meet Dr Mahathir. "I never thought that the prime minister would receive me.

I'm full of hope that the government, under Dr Mahathir, will do everything in its power to bring justice,” he said. Shaaribuu also denied that he had ever received any money from politicians to close the case. He is scheduled to meet Dr Mahathir today to discuss the case.
