KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen were arrested at the Shah Alam police headquarters yesterday for allegedly robbing a grocery store owner of RM20,000 in Klang the night before.

In the 7pm incident, the four had gone to the man’s shop and “arrested” him. They took the money from him, handcuffed him and then put him in a car and told him they were headed to the Shah Alam police headquarters.

Sources said the policemen had wanted the man, a Bangladeshi, to hand over another RM30,000.

However, what they did not count on was the man lodging a police report later.

After the report was lodged, a team of serious crimes division policemen from the Klang Utara police headquarters was sent to the Shah Alam police headquarters where they arrested the four policemen.

“The suspects, aged between 22 and 44, are based at Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman. Upon questioning, all four admitted being involved in the incident.

“From the four, police recovered the victim’s money and a handphone and seized two cars, ATM cards, a pistol and handcuffs,” said a source.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan mansor confirmed the arrests.
