The Mandarin Oriental KL always does a good job showcasing a variety of authentic local dishes and a variety of International favourites.

To start the breaking of fast we has some dates and quenched our thirst with some thirst quenching Air Tebu and Air Bandung WIth Cincau.

APPETISERS

We then started to taste the two soups that were available and immediately that set the tone for the evening . The Soup Ekor and  The Bubur Lambok were simply delicious, full of flavor and ingredients.  The Sweet Potato Curry Puffs were good too. I definately liked the Chicken & Beef Satay

They had the usual Western Appetisers: Cheese, Breads, Fruits and  the usual Salad Bar

They had quite variety of appetisers:  Kerabu Duck Salad, Kerabu Nangka Salad, Sundried Tomato, Beetroot, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Zucchini and Capsicum with cheese.
There was also a counter for those who like Arabic appetisers like hummus

Chef Wan then dropped by and recommended we should try his Nasi Tumpang, it was Rice layered with Chicken, Beef , Egg, Prawns and whole lots of othe stuff. It was quite delicious.

Right beside it was the lamb briyani which we tried next and gave it a big thumbs up as it was  really very good

CHEF WAN' S SPECIALITIES

We then went on to taste Chef Wan's specialities and he didn't disappoint with Delicious Thai Prawn Curry With Pineapple, Nyonya Prawn Kapitan, Gulai Ayam Asam Pedas, Rendang DaginG Selangor, Ayam Masak Merah Daun Kari, Fried Catfish Curry, Vegetables in  coconut milk curry, Sambal Sotong - All a must try.

INDIAN COUNTER
We then decided we were going to try the Indian spread and this was easily one of our favourites. The Hydrebad Vegetable Briyani went well with the Tandoori Prawns and Kadhal Chicken, The murtabak dough was a little to thick for our liking though. For variety they had Roti John and Garlic Naan but i really doubt if Roti John is Indian!

WESTERN COUNTER
We then tried the spread at the Western Counter, the beef cheeks were tender and fabulous, the chicken sealoppini was creamy and nice and the papillon mussels were really fresh. They has some steaks and lamb chops too, that they prepared to your liking whether medium well or well done.

The Chicken saussage, Chicken Wings and Roast Chicken were very well prepared ..

CHINESE COUNTER

At the chinese counter you have Fried Chicken with Szechuan Black Pepper, Bean Curd with Mushroom and Chicken, Wok Fried Beef With Ginger, Wok Fried Vegetable and Chinese style Fried Rice.

JAPANESE SECTION

The Japanese section is always a crowd favourite even in Ramadhan. The sashimi was quite good although there was limited choice  of sushi.

FRESH SEAFOOD COUNTER

The Seafood Counter was another popular counter with diners loving the Scallops, Mussels, Oysters, Crabs and  Steamed Prawns

DESSERTS

Desserts at the Mandarin Oriental has always been very good While it looked like they had less variety this year, what ever was there on the counter were really good. Cakes, Mousse, Tarts , Chocolate Fondue. My favourite was the Mango and Coconut Cake, All the reviewes agreed the creme brulet was to die for. I also like the white and Dark chocolate mousse

KING OF FRUITS

After having their dessert, almost everyone feasted on the durians and other fruits available at the patio area of the Lounge on the park They had ice kacang or ABC and the goreng-goreng section and apam balik here too. Having Durians as part of the buffet is one of the main attractions nowdays.

DRINKS COUNTER

As part of the buffet, Diners can  rehydrate and enjoy the many varieties of local speciality beverages such as soda bandung, teh bunga, soya bean, sugar cane, teh tarik, Nescafé tarik and many more
