KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has released a photograph of an alleged assassin behind the murder of Palestinian lecturer Dr Fadi Albatsh, says Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

The Inspector-General of Police said eyewitnesses identified the first of two suspects following the discovery of a high-powered motorcycle at Tasik Danau Kota on Tuesday (April 24) morning bearing the registration number BKJ 413.

"We believe this suspect is still in the country.

"He may change his appearance now that we are on to him," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Wednesday (April 25) morning.

"The suspect might have used fake identification documents to enter the country.

"He left the motorcycle at the lake, which is about nine minutes ride away from the crime scene," he added.

Asked if the suspects were foreign agents, Mohamad Fuzi said he could not confirmed nor deny this.

"We are still investigating. However, we believe they are highly trained as the hit was done professionally," he said, adding that 14 bullet slugs were collected from the scene of the crime.

In the brutal 6am slaying last Saturday (April 21), two men in full-faced helmets riding high-powered motorcycles waited 20 minutes in the dark near Jalan Meranti in Setapak, before assassinating Dr Fadi.

He was walking to a mosque some 300m from his home at Idaman Puteri Condominium in Medan Idaman, when he was gunned down.

Dr Fadi, who is also an imam, was going to the mosque to lead the subuh prayers.
