JOHOR BAHRU: A male foreigner, believed to be a member of the ‘Samun Keluar Bank’ case, was shot dead by police at Jalan Dato Onn Utama, Bandar Dato Onn, near here, last night.

Johor Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said in the incident at 10.50 pm, a police team from the Bukit Aman Special Task Force On Organised Crime (STAFOC) and the Serious Crime Unit (D9) of the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters had been trailing a suspicious looking vehicle. 

”Upon reaching Bandar Dato Onn, they (police) ordered the suspect to stop. “However, the suspect had acted aggressively and knocked the police vehicle while firing several shots in an effort to escape,” he told reporters at the crime scene, at midnight last night.

Consequently, police returned fire before the suspect was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident. Upon inspection at the location, police found a .38 revolver in the suspect’s car.

 “The suspect is believed to be involved in armed robbery cases and we will continue to investigate whether he was also involved in other cases as well as the suspect’s colleagues who might also be involved in robbing bank customers,”said Kamarudin. 

The 40-year-old suspect is believed to be involved in robbing bank customers which also involved local criminals as well as having participated in more than four such cases in Johor, Melaka and several other states since last year.

 The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.– BERNAMA

JOHOR BAHRU - Seorang lelaki warga asing yang dipercayai terlibat dalam kegiatan samun pelanggan bank, mati ditembak di Jalan Utama Dato' Onn di sini malam tadi.


Dalam kejadian kira-kira pukul 10.50 malam itu, lelaki berusia 40-an terbabit yang menaiki kereta Proton Wira ditembak pada bahagian badan selepas bertindak melepaskan beberapa das tembakan ke arah polis serta melanggar kenderaan polis ketika cuba melarikan diri.


Timbalan Ketua Polis Johor, Datuk Kamaruddin Md. Din berkata, sebelum kejadian, anggota polis dari unit jenayah berat D9 Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen Johor dan Pasukan Petugas Khas Jenayah Terancang (STAFOC) Bukit Aman mengekori sebuah kereta dalam keadaan mencurigakan.

“Suspek enggan memberhentikan kenderaan selepas diarahkan oleh pihak polis sebelum bertindak melepaskan beberapa das dan melanggar kenderaan anggota polis yang sedang mengejar suspek.

“Polis kemudiannya melepaskan tembakan sebelum suspek disahkan meninggal di tempat kejadian. Turut ditemui ialah sepucuk pistol jenis Revolver 0.38 dalam kereta suspek,” katanya pada sidang akhbar di sini, semalam.

Menurut Kamaruddin, siasatan awal mendapati suspek bertanggungjawab dalam empat kejadian samun pelanggan yang membawa wang selepas keluar daripada bank di sekitar negeri Melaka dan Johor.

Kes disiasat mengikut Seksyen 307 Kanun Keseksaan kerana cubaan membunuh. - K! ONLINE
