PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is angered and disappointed with DAP's Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's jab at the Ruler on Twitter.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Sultan Sharafuddin said he was saddened by Zaid's comment.

"I ask Zaid Ibrahim to read my statement carefully and get the facts rights before opening his mouth," he was quoted as saying.

"He lives in Selangor, but he can go back to Kelantan if he does not agree, build a big house and help the Kelantan people. Do not look for sustenance in Selangor," he added.

"I am aware that Zaid had long been making false and incorrect accusations against me. He is a politician and a former minister whom I understand is against the royal institution," Sultan Sharafuddin said.

"My advice to Zaid is simple, do not forget where you come from," he added.

Zaid had tweeted on Wednesday that the Ruler should be "careful" with his words and that everyone would be affected if "the country burns".

His tweets are believed to have been in response to the Sultan's statements in an exclusive interview with The Star where he warned that the deliberate use of sensitive issues to fish for votes in the general election would destroy the country.

The Sultan said he did not wish to see politicians playing with matters of race, religion and other sensitive issues for political gain.
