KUALA LUMPUR: A 33-year-old man who was stopped for a traffic violation stunned traffic enforcement police officers when he randomly claimed to be high on illicit drugs and that he is a Datuk.

The incident occurred on Friday when officers on patrol duty along Jalan Tun Razak here stopped a Honda Accord with prohibited plate numbers.

The officers produced a summons ticket for the violation – which unleashed a tirade from the driver, who hails from Bentong, Pahang.

The man was furious and began berating the officers. During his rant, he confessed to being a Datuk and that he took illicit drugs.

According to City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) deputy chief Superintendent Ahmad Adnan Basri, the man was arrested and brought to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters, where he tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
