The messenger service WhatsApp now lets you delete messages that have already been sent – but only for a limited amount of time.
"Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages you have sent to either a group or an individual chat," the company says in the announcement.
This is "particularly useful" if the message contains a mistake or if you have sent it to the wrong group or person.
However, there's a limit to the time frame: "You can only delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after sending."
WhatsApp, which is part of Facebook, also recently gave its users the opportunity to share their locations for up to eight hours.
The company emphasised at the recent launch of the feature that the location data will be completely encrypted and only visible to the participating users – WhatsApp or Facebook won't have access to it. — dpa
