For this charge, magistrate Rahni Kartini Abd Rahim sentenced him to the maximum 12 months' jail and a fine of RM1,500 in default of three months jail.

Marmi, who was unrepresented, also pleaded guilty to a second charge of assault on Or at the same place and time, and he was sentenced to three months in jail.

The sentences are to run concurrently from the date of arrest.

Earlier, DPP Ahmad Zikri Jaafar told the court that the case had gone viral.

"Last year, he had committed the same offence. His modus operandi is always the same. He sneaks behind female victims and kicks them," DPP Ahmad Zikri said.

The prosecution asked for a deterrent sentence for the accused.

According to the statements of fact, the victim was walking out of the bank's gate and heading to the bridge when the accused came from behind.

He kicked the victim, causing her to fall down on her buttocks.

The accused then walked away from the scene. The victim suffered an injury to her behind.
