Police Witness reluctant at first to examine accused clothes in Kim Jong Nam murder trial

Cop in Jong-nam murder trial distressed when asked to inspect evidence
SHAH ALAM: A police witness in the Kim Jong-nam (pic) murder trial initially refused to open a plastic package containing a grey sleeveless top worn by accused Indonesian Siti Aisyah in the High Court as he had experienced "effects" from it for a week.
Supt Nasri Mansor, 40, appeared distressed when asked to open the packaging to identify the item that he had seized from Siti Aisyah in a raid at a hotel on Feb 16.
The top was believed to have been worn by Siti Aisyah at the KL International Airport 2 on the day of the murder of Kim Chol.
Kim Chol is the alias used by Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, whenever he travelled.
"Your Honour, I am afraid to open it because I have held it without a glove when I seized it. I had 'kesan sampingan' (side effects) for a week," he said.
Supt Nasri, from the Selangor police contingent, however did not described the effects.
Justice Azmi Abdullah later agreed with defence counsel Gooi Soon Seng that the witness should inspect the item as he had marked it himself.
The judge allowed parties involved to wear face masks or to leave the courtroom. The judge then put on a face mask himself.
The witness was also taken aback when Gooi placed a shawl believed to belong to Siti Aisyah and worn on the day of the murder in front of him.
"Please put it there," said the witness, gesturing to a nearby desk.
The witness then completed the inspection of the two items.
Supt Nasri was testifying in the trial of Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28, who are jointly charged, with four men still at large, with killing Kim Chol, 45, at the KLIA2 departure hall on Feb 13.
The hearing continues before Justice Azmi Ariffin on Thursday (Nov 16).
