THE team that brought you the legendary Baze Reunion, Big Reunion 2015 and Flashback Parties, are back by popular demand to give you one of Kuala Lumpur’s most anticipated retro recall experiences.

Come Nov 18, fans and former members of legendary Kuala Lumpur clubs such as Piccadilly, Tin Mine and Scandals will be “reunited” to re-live the glory of the clubs’ heyday, with the original line-ups of DJs and, of course, the music.
All original DJs from the above mentioned legendary clubs will bring you original dancefloor hits just like it was played and arranged during that golden nostalgic clubbing era.
Party with unforgettable tracks from the likes of Kool & the Gang, Chaka Khan, the Blow Monkeys, Tatsuro Yamashita, Gilberto Gil, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, Donna Summer, Level 42, Swingout Sisters, Commodores, Terence Trent Darby, Michael Jackson, George Benson and more including hard-to-find rare grooves with real classy dance-floor hits from the record boxes of the clubs of the past.
These DJs include original club legends such as Charles B, Zaf & Ariff (Julianas from London) from Tin Mine, Q from Scandals and the notorious Jim & Kishore of Piccadilly. And, of course, a little background on the three memorable clubs.
Petaling Jaya’s legendary club Piccadilly, which ceased operations 20 years ago, drew large crowds — especially during the weekends — to its legendary venue in Atria Damansara, with an average of about 350 people coming mainly for the good music, ambience and bright neon lights. Piccadilly was also known for its unforgettable tea dance parties.
Tin Mine, from its original venue in the original Hilton KL (then Crowne Plaza, now demolished) on Jalan Sultan Ismail, was the place to be and be seen on Saturday nights back in the 1980s. It was the joint where the rich and beautiful hob-nobbed.
The interior was styled around the theme of a tin mine and many Malaysian bands of the time, such as The Strollers, The Revolvers, The Falcons and Alleycats, performed regularly there.
Some of the bands later became recording artistes and some had successful stints overseas.
That era was considered the Golden Age of Malaysian pub bands. Dress codes were enforced during weekends, but not on week nights. Club Tin Mine did not permit plain T-shirts, beanies, do-rags, headbands or bandannas, hoodies, cut-offs or sleeveless shirts.
As for Scandals, it was 1986 and the club scene was bucking the country’s economic trend. The club to be seen in was Scandals. It was at the back of KL Plaza (now Fahrenheit 88), on Jalan Bukit Bintang. It only was packed on the weekend and the crowd would be dressed to thrill. Scandals was also known to have the best crowd when it comes to A-listers and celebrities on the social scene.
The Nov 18 party will be held at the recently opened KX Kuala Lumpur, located in Life Centre, 20, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. For more details, visit http://www.kxkualalumpur.com/
Presale tickets for the party are priced at RM55 and includes one drink and a Piccadilly Mix CD for the first 200 walk-ins. There will also be tickets at the door at RM75 + 1 drink.
