Sabah fund misappropriation scandal: Remand extended for three politicians

KOTA KINABALU: The remand for three politicians here has been extended for three days starting tomorrow as part of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) probe into the misappropriation of federal government funds for Sabah.
Magistrate Mohd Aizat Abdul Rahim approved the remand extension.
The trio are Parti Warisan Sabah Wira chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman, National Umno Youth exco information chief cum Tenom Umno Youth Chief Jamawi Jaafar, and National Umno Youth exco member cum Tawau Umno Youth Chief Ariffin Kassim.
On Oct 9, Mohd Azis and Jamawi were arrested at the MACC office here, while Ariffin was detained at the MACC office in Tawau.
Mohd Azis was represented by counsel Martin Tommy, Darell Leiking, Loretto Padua Jr, Norazmi Alimat, Jaikol Situn and Cedric Choo.
Counsel Arthur Bonnie, Shahlan Jufri, Mohd Azhier A Farhan Arifin, Jafar Esteben and Razali Razi appeared for Jamawi, while lawyer Hamid Ismail appeared for Ariffin.
Prosecuting officer Mohd Faliq Basirudin is from the MACC.
Meanwhile, Mohd Aizat also released businessman Yu Sin Kong, 52, on RM200,000 bail, including RM100,000 deposited with two sureties.
Yu is represented by counsel Edward Paul.
