PETALING JAYA: Concerned over the possible ill effects of a drink sold inside the plastic “Mini Gun Spray” prompted a disciplinary teacher to buy 13 “pistols” from a hawker outside his school.
Mohd Fadli Salleh, 34, said he didn’t want any of his students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (1) Gombak drinking the liquid.
He believed an eight-year-old from the school had previously slipped into a coma for several days after drinking the liquid.
He spent RM6.50 (or 50 sens each) to buy all the drinks from the hawker because of the lingering doubt about the chemicals in the liquid.
Mohd Fadli also believed the halal logo on the product was fake and there was no name or address of the manufacturer.
“If our students are poisoned or if they die who are we to blame? Who do we sue?” he asked.
Mohd Fadli also feared the metal inside the container could rust and contaminate the drink.
“The pistols are also sold under the hot sun outside the school and those that remain unsold are kept inside the hawker’s car boot,” he said.
Mohd Fadli said he had previously confiscated 50 pistols from students during a spot check on three classes,
Had the spot checks been conducted on all 12 classes, he believed they would have confiscated a “sackful” of pistols.
Mohd Fadli added that he paid the hawker for the unsold drinks because he couldn’t just ask the seller to throw away the pistols or keep it away from the students.
“We have to think of their rice bowl too,” he told mStar in an interview.
“A hawker outside a school is not someone who is well to do.”
Mohd Fadil posted his view on the “Mini Gun Spray” on Facebook and it has since gone viral with more than 22,000 shares.
He added that on Friday one of his friends had lodged a complaint to the Health Ministry. .
Mohd Fadil urged parents to warn their children against buying the drink.
His efforts have been lauded by netizens as they praised his good heart and carring attitude to his students.
User RoHa Salleh said: “Thank you teacher for the information because I have a kid in primary school and have to be careful.”
Alwan Enaa commented: “It’s good to share these details.
“I have two kids aged five and six and they like to buy this pistol too.
“I think the water inside is flavoured water.
“I will watch my children after this.”
