GEORGE TOWN: A 54-year-old Prasarana Bhd chief operating officer was charged at a Sessions Court here with accepting more than RM70,000 in bribes.


Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahman claimed trial before Sessions Judge Norsalha Hamzah.


He was charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009.

Shukri was accused of acting as an agent of Prasarana and taking a RM70,000 bribe from Jayonik MSC Sdn Bhd, which was credited into a Maybank account under the name of Nor Jasmin Mustafa, for issuing a appointment letter to the company for a project worth RM8,404,675.13.


MACC's Ahmad Ghazali Muhamad Nadzri appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Datuk Shukri Mohamad.


Norsalha allowed bail at RM50,000 and set August 16 for mention.
