Cheras police nab 49 GROs, 12 suspected foreign pub workers in raid


 
KUALA LUMPUR: Cheras police raided a pub at Menara PGRM here for operating beyond permitted hours.
The raid saw police arrest 49 foreign women believed to be GROs as well as 12 foreign men - eight Bangladeshis, three Pakistanis and an Indian - believed to be working at the pub.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Chong Kok Sin said police together with personnel from the district Secret Societies, Gambling and Vice Division (D7) raided the outlet at around 4.20am on Friday.
"We also checked 48 customers who were at the entertainment outlet at the time of the raid," he said when contacted Friday.
He said two Indonesian men believed to be customers were also nabbed.
ACP Chong said the raid was part of the Zero Tolerance Operations being conducted throughout this district to weed out social ills and crime.
"We also seized a sound mixer, receipts, microphones and multimedia players," he said, adding that those who were arrested have been brought to the Dang Wangi police station for further investigations.
ACP Chong urged the public with information on such activities to contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
