Shop assistant fined for posting offensive image of PM on Facebook

 
KUALA LUMPUR: A shoe shop assistant was fined RM3,500 for three counts posting an edited picture resembling the Prime Minister with three women on his Facebook page.
Sessions Court judge Zaman Mohd Noor fined Muhammad Zaidi Abdullah RM1,000 for the first and second charges, while a RM1,500 fine was imposed for the third charge.
The order was made after Muhammad Zaidi pleaded guilty to the charges on Thursday.
Muhammad Zaidi, 40, was charged with three counts of intentionally posting the edited picture via his Facebook profile "Zaidi Zura" at 4.07am, 6.31pm and 7.35pm on Dec 3, 5 and 6, 2016 respectively with the intention of offending others.
He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 (act 588).
Earlier in asking for leniency, lawyer Adlizan Noor who acted for Muhammad Zaidi, submitted that his client was a convert, a shop assistant and had to support four children and a wife who isn't employed.
