30 and 15 year old picked up by Police for Murder of Hotel Employee

Hotel employee found murdered

GEORGE TOWN: A hotel employee has been found murdered, his hands and legs bound with nylon rope, at his rented flat in Rifle Range.
The body of M. Sathiwill (pic), 20, was discovered by the houseowner at about 9.30am yesterday. He was wrapped in a bedsheet.
Several residents said the victim had been assaulted earlier by a group of about five attackers along the corridor outside the unit on the 16th floor.
He was then brought into the unit at about 2am on Tuesday, they told police.
George Town Deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said the initial investigation showed that the victim was beaten with blunt objects before his death.
He had bruises and his face was swollen.
“We studied closed-circuit TV recordings of the incident which confirmed that he was beaten up by several people.
“We have identified the suspects,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated as murder.
Supt Saravanan said the body has been sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.
The victim rented a room in the unit with his brother about a month ago, he added.
George Town Deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said police have since picked up a 30-year-old unemployed man and a 15-year-old school dropout to facilitate investigation.
He said the older suspect had three previous criminal records for murder, voluntarily causing hurt and burglary.
He added that both suspects would be remanded today.
