JEMPOL: A woman’s plan to attend her friend's wedding was scuppered when she was attacked by her friend’s neighbour’s dog as soon as she arrived at the venue.
In the 4.15pm incident, the 49-year old woman had just alighted from her car to attend her friend’s wedding at her house in Taman Sri Mahsan here, when she was pounced on by a dog from a neighbouring house.
The dog, which was not leashed, and was eating outside the gated compound of its owner’s home, bit the woman on her left calf and ankle.
The woman called for help and appealed to the dog’s owner, who was present at the time, but she claims she was ignored.
Jempol district police chief Superintendent Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the victim, who was in a lot of pain, skipped the wedding and went to the Jempol Hospital where she sought outpatient medical treatment.
The victim then lodged a police report at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station.
Police picked up a 48-year-old man, believed to be the dog’s owner, at his house at 6.40pm.
He was later released on police bail, but investigations are ongoing under Section 289 of the Penal Code.
