JOHOR BARU: A second cousin of the Sultan of Johor was killed in an accident at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam, near Danga City Mall, here.
Tunku Amal Jakiah Tunku Mohd Archibald, 58, was travelling in a car driven by her 22-year-old daughter when the accident occurred at around 9.45am Friday.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the driver lost control of the car when avoiding another vehicle and rammed into a road divider.
"Tunku Amal Jakiah, who was from Taman Nong Chik, had chest injuries and died on the spot," he said in a statement.
The driver had minor injuries and was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment.
