KUALA LUMPUR: It was a close call for PKR Youth leader Datuk Adam Rosly – who had been under remand for nine days and slapped with criminal charges today – when it was discovered at the 11th hour that he was short of his RM300,000 bail money.

Shortly before the registration counter closed for the day, Adam’s bailor – his wife Datin Puteri Balqis Omar – realised that she had insufficient funds to bail her husband out.
It is believed that the bail money had been pooled by Adam’s family members – and they had apparently underestimated the total amount.
With the clock ticking, family members and supporters then frantically withdrew their money from an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) at the KL Court Complex to top up the amount.

Minutes before the registration counter was to be shuttered, Puteri Balqis scrambled for the bail counter at the basement floor of the Complex. She made it to the counter at 5.30pm, posted bail, and secured her husband’s release with no time to spare.
Ten minutes later, Adam, freed from his handcuffs, was escorted by police out of the lock-up and was reunited with his family members.
The 30-year-old carried his toddler daughter as he walked away from the counter with his wife, and the family obligingly posed for press photographers waiting nearby.
Earlier today, Adam was charged at the sessions court with six counts of providing authorities with forged documents and false statements.
The businessman pleaded not guilty when the charges were read before judge Allaudeen Ismail.
He was allowed RM300,000 bail with one surety, and his case will be up for mention on May 29.
