SUNGAI PETANI: The case of flying stones aimed at passing vehicles at a notorious stretch of the North-South Expressway near here has been solved.
Four schoolboys were caught red-handed in their dastardly activity along the highway.
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Md Zukir Md Isa said two auxiliary policemen spotted the Form Two students acting suspiciously beneath a flyover.
One of them was in the mid-swing of hurling a stone towards the highway.
“They tried to flee but our men were faster,” said ACP Md Zukir, adding that the incident took place at Km96 of the North-South Expressway, near the Sungai Lalang-Gurun stretch at 4pm on Tuesday.
He said the authorities were aware of Facebook postings by motorists since late last month, warning others to be wary of people throwing stones at their cars along this stretch.
“Many motorists were aware this was happening and they even advised others to avoid the stretch if possible,” he said yesterday.
He added that the boys were released on police bail and would be investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
