Two teenage girls remanded for attempting to steal gold bangle

NST

Kuala Terengganu: Two teenagers, aged 14 and 18, suspected of stealing a gold bangle from a goldsmith in Chabang Tiga yesterday have been arrested by the police.
According to a police source, the female teens with another female suspect, in her 40s, were said to have entered the goldsmith shop at around 2pm.
On the pretext of buying gold bangles, the suspects had asked an employee to help them find the right bangle.
The source said all three tried on a bangle each and soon after, two of the suspects returned their bangles to the worker. They then started to leave the premise.
“At that point, the employee realised that one of the teen suspects was still wearing the bangle. She quickly grabbed her arm and shouted for help,” he said.
The other employee managed to catch the second teenager suspect but the woman ran away.
Both teenagers were then handed over to the police at the Chabang Tiga police station.
Magistrate Rozianti Mohamed Hanaphi at the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate Court today ordered the remand of the two girls from Kelantan for three days.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for thefts.
A CCTV footage showing the suspects in action had gone viral yesterday after finding its way to the Internet.
