Cops kick down door to locked apartment, find dead South Korean

KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a South Korean man was found in his locked apartment, days after he died from a heart attack.
According to Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy, police were notified by an apartment security guard of a foul stench on the night of March 9.
"The guard said that he smelt a rotten stench, not unlike a dead body, in one of the homes at the apartment he worked at on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.
"When policemen met the guard, they were brought to the home. The door needed to be kicked down as it was locked," he said.
What they saw inside was a body of a man, face down on a bed, with blood nearby.
Identification documents on the scene showed that the victim was a 43-year-old male from South Korea.
"Chats with neighbors showed that the victim was last seen two weeks ago. The forensics team found no signs of forced entry and no exterior injuries on the body. Personal effects of the victim were also still present at the scene," he said.
ACP Munusamy added that investigations suggested that the blood found was due to the decomposing body.
Investigations also showed that the victim had rented the unit since May 2016, and that he came to Malaysia to study English. No temporary work or study visa were found on his passport.
A postmortem confirmed the cause of death as "intracranial bleeding with underlying coronary artery disease", which is also classified as a heart attack.
It also showed that the victim had been dead for at least four days.
"The embassy will be informed to trace his family," he said.
