Nearly three million compound fine notices have been ignored by motorists in KL city.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,459 traffic offenders have been blacklisted by the Road Transport Department (RTD) for failing to settle compound notices issued by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

DBKL Corporate Planning Department director Khalid Zakaria said although DBKL offered special reduced traffic compound payment rates from Dec 3, 2016 to Feb 28 this year, the offenders had yet to settle their fines.

“Since 2007 until Feb 28, 2017, a total of 3,198,553 compound fine notices are still outstanding while 2,095,683 notices have been settled, generating RM75,892,290 in compound fine collection.

“Failure of offenders to settle their compound fines will result in them facing court action and warrants of arrest to be issued for subsequent blacklisting by the RTD,” he said in a statement today.
