Teacher jailed for raping pupil

KUALA LUMPUR: A physical education teacher of a primary school has been jailed for a total of 24 years by a Sessions Court in Selayang here for two counts of raping his pupil.
Judge Tasnim Abu Bakar also ordered Mohd Ezlie Azram Mohammad Khasasi, 38, to be given 12 strokes of the rotan.
He handed down the decision yesterday after the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.
Mohd Ezlie Azram was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and six strokes of the cane for raping the girl when she was 11 years old in 2011.
He was jailed another 12 years and ordered to be whipped six times for raping the victim two years later.
“I order the sentences against you to run consecutively from today,” she said.
Clad in a white shirt and a pair of brown pants, the divorcee, who was also a silat teacher, appeared calm and showed no remorse.
His two younger sisters, who sat in the public gallery, also appeared calm.
Mohd Ezlie was charged with raping the girl between 1pm and 3pm on Dec 3, 2011, and repeated the offence in August 2013 at his house in Taman Aman Siara, Batu Caves.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.
Earlier, in mitigation, counsel Dony Abdullah, who was assisted by Farhan Read, said his client was a divorcee with two children aged nine and 10.
Dony said the accused, the eldest of seven siblings, supported his two siblings, who were college students.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shuhaida Wan Omar urged the court to mete out a harsh sentence.
Tasnim, however, granted a stay of execution pending an appeal but increased the bail to RM20,000 from RM15,000.
