Cheras 'gangster' breaks down when fined RM100 by court

NST

KUALA LUMPUR: A self-proclaimed Cheras gangster could not hold back his tears when he was fined RM100 in default 10 days in jail by the magistrate’s court here for insulting an enforcement officer on Monday.
S. Pativen, 22, who was unemployed, was slapped with the fine after pleading guilty to a charge under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for his insulting behaviour towards a traffic policeman.
According to the fact of the case, Pativen was riding a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle when he rammed into roadblock near Jalan Yaakob Salleh at about 1.15pm on Jan 9.
He was stopped by the policemen about 50 metres from the roadblock and failed to produce his driving licence upon request by the police officer.
He was reported as saying, “Saya ketua gangster Cheras. Panggil lu punya boss besar mari sekarang, saya mahu jumpa tak ada hal (I’m the head gangster of Cheras. Call your superior now, I want to speak to him).”
The accused also tried to evade the arrest, however, that proved futile as he was immediately nabbed by the policemen at the scene. Even then, he was said to be spewing threats, warning the policemen that he “will teach them a lesson”.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin said apt punishment must be handed down in order to teach the man a lesson.
Santivan who was unrepresented immediately cried when the judged meted out the sentence.
