KOTA TINGGI: A husband and wife were burnt to death in a car accident near Felda Sungai Ara in Batu 23 here on Saturday.
Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Jaafar Mahmod said that the victims, Mohd Farid Tumpang, 25, and Suzana Jumri, 32, were travelling in a Perodua Viva when it collided with a Nissan Cefiro.
Jaafar said they received a distress call at around 5.52am and seven firemen were deployed to the scene a few minutes later.
"Investigations revealed that both vehicles crashed into each other, causing the Viva to overturn and catch fire, killing both victims," he said in a statement.
Jaafar added that the Viva was completely destroyed in the fire while a 36-year-old victim travelling in the Cefiro suffered minor injuries.
