Teacher accused of sexually assaulting his pupils denied bail
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here has stopped a teacher from returning to work after it denied him bail, following accusations that he sexually assaulted three pupils under his charge.
Mohd Noor Zaini Zulkifli, 42, was charged with three counts of forcing the nine-year-old girls to perform oral sex on him in the music room of a primary school in Ampang on Oct 19.
He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
His lawyer Nazri Hussin asked that his client be allowed bail, as he was still teaching at the school.
But DPP Goh Ai Rene objected, stating that the accused posed a risk to the children and might harass the victims.
She added that the charges were serious and the court had the choice not to offer bail.
Sessions Court judge Rushan Lutfi Mohamed agreed with the prosecutor and denied bail, pending trial.
Under Section 377C of the Penal Code for unnatural sex, Mohd Noor Zaini could be jailed for between five and 20 years and whipped if found guilty.
The court fixed Jan 20 for mention.
