KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman with the rank of Lance Corporal fell to his death from the fourth floor of an apartment block in Pandan Perdana here today.

The 34-year-old policeman, who is attached to the Bukit Jalil police station, was believed to be trying to escape from a "khalwat" (close proximity) raid conducted by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), when the incident happened at 2am.

It is understood that when Jais officers inspected the unit he was in, a woman there admitted that she was his lover.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Hamzah Alias, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said the case has been classified as sudden death and that no criminal elements were found.
