Just when you think this world has seen enough violence and cruelty, one decides to go above and beyond to prove otherwise.

In a shocking video posted on Facebook, New Jersey born and bred teenager, Tikeemah Lassiter, was seen heartlessly throwing a cat off a third floor balcony.

The 19-year-old was filmed holding the tabby cat and taking several steps towards the railing before tossing the animal into the air while her friends laughed as they watched the cat landing on the sidewalk, just metres away from the road.

“It’s dead?”, one of them asks as the camera zooms in on the poor animal.

Lassiter who did the act to delight her friends was later being investigated and charged with animal cruelty after the posting went viral and a viewer complained to the police.

A “call to action” was also posted on Facebook to expose the person responsible for the heinous deed.

“Please help find this girl and have her be held accountable- her name is (allegedly) Tikee Gee and she lives in #Newark,” read the call to action.

New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals confirmed the cat did not belong to Lassiter and that she picked it up on the streets after visiting her relatives.

Fortunately, the fur ball miraculously survived the fall after landing on the hard pavement below.

Thankfully, a boy from the same neighbourhood, found the animal and gave it to local cat rescuer Yasmin Rivera, who renamed her Karma.

Karma has since been taken to the vet to check for any internal injuries, as shared by Ms Rivera on her Facebook post updates.

She also relayed many have enquired of Karma, and received requests to adopt cat.

At least now Karma has a better life to live, although has been left with one less life out of nine ever since.
