Woman surrenders over Mutiara Damansara maid abuse case

PETALING JAYA: A 43-year-old woman surrendered herself to police following reports of an abused maid being found in Mutiara Damansara.
Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Ali Thamby said Thursday the woman, who is thought to be the victim's employer, surrendered herself at the Mutiara Damansara police station at 10.30pm Wednesday.
He said the woman has been remanded for seven days, and that the case is being investigated for causing grievous hurt.
He added that the maid, who has been working here for only two weeks, is still being treated at University Malaya Medical Centre.
On Wednesday afternoon, a security guard found an unconscious 19-year-old girl by a drain in PJU 3/10, Mutiara Damansara.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din had said that based on the injuries, police believe that the girl had been abused.
