Man Arrested After Malaysian Police Alerted by Taiwan Counterparts that obscene photos of children being loaded by IP address in Malaysia

    KUALA LUMPUR: A 20-year-old man was detained for allegedly uploading nude photographs of children.
    City police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh said Malaysian police were alerted by their Taiwanese counterparts over the exploitation of children on social media.
    “We were informed by Taiwanese police that obscene photos of children were being uploaded in Malaysia.
    “We traced the IP address registered to the suspect,” he said in a statement Friday.
    The man was detained after city police and officers from Bukit Aman's Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) and the Commercial Crime Department raided his home in Jinjang Utara at about 9.40am Friday.
    “We also seized a few items including a mobile phone, laptop, and a passport.
    “The suspect will be remanded and the case is classified under Section 292 of the Penal Code for circulating obscene materials,” he said.
