TUMPAT: The widow of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) employee who was stabbed to death at a parking lot of the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council hopes the murderer will receive his due punishment.

Noriah Lah, 34, who is eight months pregnant with her first child with Mohd Shukri Husin, 34, said in spite of her tragic loss, she would persevere and carry on with her life.

She expressed relief that the main suspect had been arrested, saying she had not been able to sleep since the incident on Sunday.

“Alhamdulillah, I feel relieved (that the suspect has been arrested); hopefully he will receive his due punishment,” she told reporters at her house in Kampung Kok Keli here Wednesday.

The 29-year-old suspect from Manir, Kuala Terengganu was nabbed while walking along Jalan Jeram, Manir Wednesday afternoon.

On Sunday, at about 11.30am, the suspect allegedly stabbed the elder brother of the girl he was supposed to marry when a heated argument ensued at the Terengganu Religious Department car park.

The argument took place after the family of the girl who had come from Kelantan learned from the Religious Department’s records that the suspect had lied about being a bachelor and had already married six years ago.

Police arrived to find the body of the victim in a pool of blood with six stab wounds to the neck and chest.

The victim’s sister, who was to be married to the murder suspect, and other members of her family are said to have witnessed the stabbing. - Bernama
