Train derailment disrupts service on north-south KTM line

PETALING JAYA: Passengers on the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) train services on the north and south line will be affected by delays due to a cargo train derailment.

"All passenger train service route ETS Kampar - Ipoh - Kampar will be transferred by bus and continue the journey to their destination by train," KTM said in a statement on Friday.

It said passengers who do not wish to continue their journey can request for a refund at the nearest ticketing counters.

"KTM apologises for the inconvenience and will provide updates on the situation," it said.
Two locomotives and 25 empty carriages slipped off the tracks at KM200.332 Kota Baru-Lahat, Batu Gajah, early Friday.

The trains were headed for Tasek, Perak, from Kuang, Selangor, to collect a load of cement when the incident happened.

It caused two tracks to be blocked, preventing trains from further proceeding along the route.
