KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man who claimed to be Jesus Christ and threatened to kill the Prime Minister and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) when he was stopped for a police check here.

The 43-year-old man from Kedah was stopped by police along Jalan Tun Razak around 4.30pm on Thursday when they saw him driving a car with the licence plate "WWE3621 KERAJAAN EMPAYAR LANGKASUKA NUSANTARA TUANKU RAJA MERONGMAHAWANGSA II SULTAN KEDAH ASAL IMAM ALMAHDI".

Sources said the man, who was in the car with his wife and daughter, scolded the policemen for stopping him and not knowing who he was.

He then threatened the policemen and said he would kill the IGP and the Prime Minister for arresting him.

He was detained and taken to the traffic police headquarters, where he repeated his deadly threats.

"He then claimed that he was Jesus Christ and said he would kill the Malay Rulers and take over Putrajaya," said the source.

The man was issued three summonses for traffic offences and referred to the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) for further action.
