KUALA LUMPUR: Two people are dead while another is in critical condition following an attack by a group of men armed with parang at a pub along Jalan Dutamas 1 here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy said the incident occurred at around 11pm on Wednesday.

“We received a call via MERS 999 that a man armed with a parang had slashed another man in front of a pub at Publika, Solaris Dutamas.

“Based on CCTV footage from the area, two vehicles had stopped in front of the pub and at least six suspects armed with parang and wearing masks got out.

“One of the suspects approached the victims, who were sitting in front of the pub, and began brutally attacking them while the other suspects were seen going into the pub,” he said when contacted Thursday.

He said two victims, a man and a woman, aged 21 and 23 respectively, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital while another man whose identity has yet to be ascertained is in critical but stable condition.

“Post mortems on the two victims revealed that they died from multiple incised wounds.

“Following the murders, we arrested six suspects at around 2am on Thursday,” he said.

A man and a woman who were slashed with machetes at a pub in Publika Solaris have succumbed to their injuries while another victim has been warded following injuries sustained in the attack on Wednesday night.

Sentul police chief ACP R. Munusamy said in the 11pm incident, a close circuit television footage showed the assailants approaching the pub in two vehicles.

"The attackers were wearing masks and armed with machetes.

"They divided themselves into two groups and approached a victim who was loitering in front of the pub while the remaining members of the group attacked the victims in the pub," Munusamy said in a statement today.

Preliminary investigations found that the victims, identified as S. Mogan, 21, and R. Mythurai, 23, succumbed to their injuries upon reaching Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

The remaining victim, a man whose identity is not known, remains warded at HKL.

According to sources, the motive of the attack is revenge as the assailants had a bone to pick with one of the victims who is also a car jockey.

"Checks also found that the "Jockey" had misunderstandings with the attackers before this," the source added.

Police subsequently arrested six individuals aged between 20 to 23 years-old who have been remanded for seven days to assist in the murder probe.
