Shangri-La Hotel KL donates RM503,000 towards children with severe heart ailments

KUALA LUMPUR: Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur yesterday donated more than RM500,000 to 12 children suffering from severe heart ailments.

The hotel’s general manager Manfred Weber said RM503,000 would go towards financing the children’s heart surgery.

“Funds collected were directly channeled to the hospitals so that the affected children can undergo their operations without any delay, thus eliminating any red tape. Time is of the essence when it comes to such medical conditions.

“Some of the children have already undergone their operations and are recovering well,” he said.

Weber, accompanied by Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, presented the cheques during the hotel’s Buka Puasa Charity Dinner yesterday.

The charity dinner was also livened by children with special needs from three homes, namely; Tasputra Perkim, Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Taman Megah and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Al-Firdausi.
