The headmistress of a school has raised the ire of parents for making students drink "miracle water" packaged by a religious movement.

THE STAR
KLANG: The headmistress of a vernacular school here has raised the ire of parents for allegedly making students drink "miracle water" packaged by a religious movement.
According to SJK(C) Pandamaran A board of governors secretary Choo Kim San, the headmistress claimed that the water has the power to make students smarter.
“She has been doing it for the last four years. We have asked her many times to stop but she still continues with the practice," he told a press conference at the Klang MCA office here Thursday.
The press conference was organised by Klang MCA Public Complaints and Services deputy chief Datuk Tan Bok Koon.
The headmistress has also placed buntings all over the school promoting the "miracle water" and even installed a vending machine for the students to buy the bottled water.
The water is packaged by the Bai Shi Yin Guang Li Liang Ke Ji Yan Jiu Yuan movement, which propagates "wisdom light technology" to rid one’s body of negativity.
According to Tan, the headmistress claimed in the bunting that under-performing students who drink the "miracle water" had become top scorers in the UPSR examination.
“Teachers also took students who were weak in their studies to the headmistress’ office where she sprinkled the water on them," said Tan, adding that he received several complaints recently from parents over the matter.
He said the headmistress had issued a letter of appreciation from the school to the religious organisation she was promoting.
“It is wrong to issue a letter from the school without the consent of the board of governors,’’ said Tan.
“The headmistress should be dealt with by the state education authorities for promoting her religious beliefs in school," he said.
Tan said he would be compiling data on the matter and hand it to Deputy Education Minister Senator Chong Sin Woon.
The headmistress was not available for comment.
