Man nabbed over comments on Johor Crown Prince
PETALING JAYA: A man has been arrested for allegedly insulting the Johor royalty on social media.
Muhamad Masyhur Abdullah, 29, was picked up at his workplace in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday over disparaging remarks on Twitter against Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
He was taken to Johor Baru where he would be remanded to assist in the investigations.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd confirmed the arrest.
A check found that the Twitter account @TheKeluangMan is believed to be owned by Muhamad Masyhur.
It is understood that Muhamad Masyhur made the comment in response to an image of Tunku Ismail uploaded on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.
The image (pic above) depicted Tunku Ismail, the owner of Johor Darul Takzim football club, having a meal and on a plate was a miniature elephant with the words CEO written on it.
The elephant is the mascot of the Pahang football team, known as Tok Gajah, which lost 0-6 to JDT in the Super League on Saturday.
The suspect is being investigated for improper use of network facilities or network services under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
