PETALING JAYA: Superstar Jermaine Jackson is in town but this time, he is not singing for his fans.
A member of the pop group The Jacksons, he was accompanying Sultanah Pahang Sultanah Kalsom in paying a visit to the OrphanCare Foundation in Kampung Tunku near here.
It was his third to the centre after previous visits in April 2009 and Dec 2012.
Jackson lauded the initiatives of the foundation, whose patron was Sultanah Kalsom.
“We want to spread the message of love and care for children all over the world.
“These efforts will be carried out continuously through our songs and music,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sultanah Kalsom urged more individuals and companies to support the foundation’s noble efforts.
She said Berjaya Group founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan was the latest to pledge financial support.
Sime Darby Foundation will be donating a sum of RM1.05mil for three years.
Sultanah Kalsom also spent time to cuddle a week-old baby girl, who will be up for adoption soon.
The foundation’s chairman Tan Sri Faizah Mohd Tahir said 114 babies had been rescued since the foundation was set up in 2008.
“We have three centres in Petaling Jaya, Johor Baru and Kota Baru.
“Another will be set up in Sungai Petani,” she said, adding that unwanted babies due to various reasons could be left in the baby hatch for adoption.
Faizah said the foundation would work closely with the authorities to get the babies adopted so that they could live a better life.
She said raising children in an orphanage was not the answer and should just be a short term measure.
“Every child needs a family. Orphanage is just a transit and not the solution,” she said.
Faizah added that some 3,000 couples have signed up to adopt the babies.
She said they would have to go for counselling and training courses before the babies were given to them to raise as their own.
Also present was Pahang Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation chairman Datuk Seri Johny Ch’ng Ewe Gee.

Magistrate rejects police application to remand the three editors of TMI

The lawyer, Syahredzan Johan, took to microblogging site Twitter this afternoon to confirm the news.
“Remand application for Lionel Morais, Zulkifli Sulong and Amin Iskandar denied by Magistrate Tuan Nazri Bin Omran,” he wrote, referring to the portal’s managing editor, Bahasa Malaysia editor and features and analysis editor.
“They will be freed by 7pm today,” he added.
Lionel, Amin and Zulkifli were arrested last night under the Sedition Act 1948 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 to assist in investigations over a recent article linking the controversial hudud issue to the Conference of Rulers.
The news portal’s chief executive Jahabar Sadiq and Ho Kay Tat, the group chief executive officer (CEO) of The Edge Media Group that owns TMI, were later arrested this morning under the same laws when they went to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to have their statements recorded.
Last week, TMI ran a report citing an unnamed source as claiming that the Conference of Rulers had rejected proposed legal amendments that would allow hudud to be enforced. This was later denied by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, who also lodged a police report over the article.
BN MPs then called for legal action against the news portal over the report and for reporting “twisted facts” in another article on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s speech on the Sedition Act during yesterday’s Police Day celebration.
Besides the five, TMI columnist Khoo Ying Hooi, a Universiti Malaya academic, is also being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation over an article titled “Who owns the police?”

100 over flights cancelled over Thai airlines safety concerns

Thai Airways aircraft are parked on the tarmac at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport March 27, 2015. — Reuters picThai Airways aircraft are parked on the tarmac at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport March 27, 2015. — Reuters picBANGKOK, March 31 — China has joined South Korea and Japan in stopping Thai airlines from flying charters and new routes because of safety concerns highlighted by an international audit, Thai officials said yesterday.
The move will come as a blow to Thai carriers that have just started recovering after a poor 2014 when political protests slashed the number of tourists visiting Thailand.
The halt is disrupting the peak travel season around the Thai new year in April. About 100 charter flights to Japan alone have been cancelled and some 30,000 tickets either refunded or modified, the director general of Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Somchai Piputwat told reporters yesterday.
Budget carriers have been worst hit though national carrier Thai Airways International, which is in the midst of a major restructuring, has also been prevented from expanding because of the halt, Thai officials said.
One aviation source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters that significant safety concerns had been uncovered during an audit of Thailand’s civil aviation authority by the Montreal-based International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The source said the ICAO’s concerns revolved around the issue of operator certificates to carriers by the Thai authority. While the ICAO cannot “downgrade” states, its audits identify concerns that could lead countries to take steps such as banning flights.
“The audit revealed some safety concerns, primarily relating to air operator certification procedures,” ICAO spokesman Anthony Philbin said in an email, adding that Thailand had submitted a plan to the ICAO to correct the issues identified.
    Domino effect
Thai Transport Minister Air Chief Marshall Prajin Juntong told reporters yesterday that Thailand had struggled for a decade to comply with ICAO standards.
Prajin said while the ICAO has not made the results of the audit public, aviation authorities in some countries had taken pre-emptive steps to stop Thai carriers from flying new routes.
Authorities in China have rejected plans by budget carrier Orient Thai Airlines and charter flight operator Sky View to operate more flights to the country, the DCA’s Somchai said.
South Korea has rejected plans by charter airline Asia Atlantic Airlines to start new flights, he said. Japan had already made a similar move, according to reports in Thai media.
Other airlines affected by the ban are Thai Airways International and long-haul, low-cost carrier Thai AirAsiaX.
“It’s a domino effect,” Prajin said, adding that the ministry hoped the issue would be resolved within eight months.
Thai Airways declined to comment. Nok Airlines chief executive said the impact on NokScoot, its joint venture with Singapore Airlines subsidiary, would be limited.
Voradech Hanprasert, deputy permanent secretary at the Transport Ministry, said the ICAO findings had no impact on existing flights.
Still, Thailand is concerned the results could lead the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to put Thailand on its watch list, Voradech said.
An ICAO rep from one Asia Pacific country said yesterday he felt Thailand would rectify the concerns raised in the audit.
“A state like Thailand will definitely take measures to address these issues,” he said. “I think they need time.” — Reuters

Video Beberapa Orang Gadis Mengamuk Dengan Seorang Pemandu Teksi Di Sebuah Teksi Di Shah Alam Menjadi Viral

Kisah Sebenar: Gadis Mengamuk Di Sebuah Stesen Minyak Di Shah Alam

- Siakapkeli.com.my

1MDB Whistleblower Sarawak Report Had its Website Hacked to Remove A Story About The Double Life of Abu Dhabi Aaabar Fund Chairman #1mdb

Sarawak Report website hacked, story deleted
     | March 30, 2015
The hackers removed a story about the double life of Abu Dhabi's Aabar Fund chairman Khadem al-Qubaisi.
    SR
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak Report website, which has been carrying investigative exposés on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fund, has been hacked and one of the stories was deleted.
“On Monday, last week, highly professional hackers intruded into the Sarawak Report website. They started their work at 10.37am and within half an hour, had deleted one of our stories and then made sure to wipe it from the trash section on our site,” the Sun Daily quoted the website as saying.
“These hackers took care to disguise their IP address and then change it in a bid to hide their location.”
The hackers wanted to remove the story about the double life of Abu Dhabi’s Aabar Fund chairman Khadem al-Qubaisi.
Khadem, who is a civil servant working for the state of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign fund, was portrayed as a party-loving figure with images published in the Sarawak Report.
The article had focused on the fact that the fund, which has done a number of heavily criticised deals with 1MDB, had received a payment of over US$20 million from Good Star Limited – a company controlled by millionaire Jho Low, which the website had identified as the recipient of the secret US$700 million “loan repayment”, made supposedly to PetroSaudi from 1MDB.
Sarawak Report has also been facing pressure to remove certain images from its site days ago.
The website said a non-existent celebrity picture agency has pestered its internet server company to remove pictures showing Jho Low cavorting with Paris Hilton in France.
“This non-existent agency has used threatening and legal language, demanding we remove the pictures, which have been circulated on the web by various other online magazines since 2010, because they say they have the copyright.”
“So far, the non-existent picture agency has not provided proof of this copyright, nor has it shown any interest in being paid for the pictures. Instead, it has engaged in aggressive backdoor tactics to get our site and other sites to take down the pictures by threatening copyright action against our server companies,” Sarawak Report said.

All About Photos? – Latest Attacks Against Sarawak Report

Hudud images that must come down?
Hudud images that must come down?
In recent weeks Sarawak Report has taken a front line position, reporting on a number of extremely serious issues to do with billions of dollars of missing money from Malaysia’s development fund, 1MDB.
We have released a considerable number of documents and emails that have raised uproar in Malaysia over issues of corruption, governance of the country’s finances and the rule of law.
However, it appears that for some of the main characters, who have appeared in our reports, there is more concern over certain photographs than whether or not they might be questioned or held to account over 1MDB.
We conclude this, because in recent days Sarawak Report has found itself subjected to a number of aggressive campaigns to force us to remove these photographs, which provided valuable corroborative evidence for our articles.

Given the articles and pictures record vast expenditures by certain individuals, who are associated with the disappearance of billions of ringgit that were supposed to benefit Malaysia’s poor and backward regions, we believe they represent valid news content and it has been in the public interest to see these pictures.

    Hacking

On Monday of last week highly professional hackers intruded into the Sarawak Report website’s administration.
They started their work at 10.37 am and within half an hour had deleted one of our stories and then made sure to wipe it from the trash section also of the site.
These hackers took care to disguise their IP address and then change it, in a bid to hide their location.
These were the pictures someone paid professional hackers to remove from our site
Al-Qubaisi at play – from the story someone paid professional hackers to remove from our site
Both IPs were linked to proxy servers and they disguised themselves as coming from Google – a fairly easy trick, according to web experts.
So, which was the story that the hackers wanted removed?
It was the story about the double existence of Abu Dhabi’s Aabar Fund Chairman, Khadem al-Qubaisi.
This article had focused on the fact that this chairman of a fund, which has done a number of heavily criticised deals with 1MDB, had received a payment of over USD$20 million from Good Star Limited.
Good Star Limited was the company we had identified as the recipient of the secret USD$700 million ‘loan repayment’, made supposedly to PetroSaudi from 1MDB.
We have established that Good Star is a company controlled by Jho Low.
By contrast, Khadem al-Qubaisi signs a cooperation agreement with 1MDB in 2013 under the eye of the PM
By contrast, Khadem al-Qubaisi signs a cooperation agreement with 1MDB in 2013 under the eye of the PM
So, we queried, why did the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi fund Aabar receive this $20 million payment from Good Star, shortly after Aabar engaged in an unusual  guarantee of 1MDB’s bond issue to buy up power-providers in Malaysia?
Several critics have queried why this deal, engineered by Goldman Sachs for a record 11% in commission payments, involved a guarantee by Aabar at all?
These critics have pointed out that under the terms of the guarantee agreement nearly half the money raised by the bond was committed to remain in Abu Dhabi.
Another picture someone wants us to take down.
Another picture someone wants us to take down.
They also point out that the deal also gave Aabar an option to buy up half of the power plants in question and that in order to buy itself out of these restrictions 1MDB may well have had to pay up to $1 billion dollars at a later date.
This weekend DAP opposition leader Tony Pua pointed out that, because of the way 1MDB chose to handle these transactions, the fund ended upraising over RM20 billion in borrowing to purchase just RM10 billion worth of power assets in Malaysia.
Therefore, we asked what happened to that missing money and why did the head of Aabar, which collaborated on these deals, receive a payment in 2012 from Good Star?
Now, we seek reassurance that the reason our article was hacked and taken down was not because certain parties were dismayed at our revelation over the payment?
Or, because the public posture of Mr al-Qubaisi as a sober civil servant working for the state of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign funds has been undermined by the party-loving images we published along with the evidence of his extreme wealth?

    “Abuse of copyright”?

How much money can we waste here? - Jho and Paris laugh while Malaysians starve
How much money can we waste here? – These pictures of Jho and Paris have been widely circulated on the internet since 2010 and yet now the ‘copyright holder’ wants them down.
Sarawak Report has simultaneously been faced with a different kind of attack, which was also been directed at getting rid of certain images on our site.
For several days a non-existent celebrity pictures agency has pestered our internet server company to make us remove the pictures we have shown of Jho Low cavorting in the South of France with Paris Hilton (he paid her millions of dollars on several occasions to come and join his champagne fuelled parties).
This non-existent agency has used threatening and legalistic language, demanding we remove the pictures, which have been circulated on the web by various other online magazines since 2010, because they say they have the copyright.
Time to hide expensive bad behaviour as Jho Low morphs into a 'philanthropist'?
Time to hide expensive bad behaviour as Jho Low morphs into a ‘philanthropist’?
So far the non-existent picture agency has not provided proof of this copyright.
Nor has it  shown any interest in being paid for the pictures.
Instead it has engaged in aggressive backdoor tactics to get our site and other sites to take down the pictures by threatening copyright action against our server companies.
Mr Jho Low has reportedly made commitments to obey his parents and turn over a new leaf when it comes to public displays of expensive debauchery.
So, we seek an assurance that it is not he who is behind this attempt to to buy up the copyright over these various pictures, purely in order to remove them from sight?
If Mr Low is attempting to retrospectively buy back his reputation by aggressively bullying news reporters into removing the evidence of his past misbehaviour, we believe he should provide Malaysians with proof that he is not using their own development money to do so.

After all, the first pictures of this youthful tycoon’s ostentatious partying emerged shortly after the original PetroSaudi deal in September 2009, after which USD$700 million was diverted into the account of Good Star from 1MDB.
Another USD$160 million followed in September 2010 and a further USD$260 million was paid by 1MDB to PetroSaudi, which then passed the money to Jarvace via PetroSaudi Seychelles in order to buy out UBG bank, in which Jho Low had a stake and of which he was a board member.
Is it this money which is now being used to finance these aggressive ‘copyright suits’ to white-wash his image?
Concern that this might be the case has caused Sarawak Report to circulate (above) certain pictures that have already been in the public domain for over four years, but which we had originally felt too unnecessarily undignified for us to publish.
Did these people ever once think of the hungry Malaysian poor in whose name 1MDB raised so much money?
Did these people ever once think of the hungry Malaysian poor in whose name 1MDB raised so much money?
They include pictures of a plainly drunk Paris Hilton clinging to Mr Low while her short dress rides up to give full view to her underwear.
She is being carried out ‘legless’ from a nightclub.
If Mr Low (or his misguided supporters) believes that he can expunge such memories by throwing big bucks into legal action against us and others, we believe that such images should now be widely circulated, so they stick in people’s minds before any possible enforcement can take place.
Especially if the whole strategy is being funded by money siphoned from the public purse through 1MDB.
We suggest people download these photos and pass them to each other and put them on Facebook, along with the pictures that someone is trying to remove concerning Mr Low’s business partner Khadem al-Qubaisi

KUCHING: A 23-year-old fishmonger has been sentenced to death for the murder of two British medical students who were here on work placement.
High Court judge Justice Chew Soo Ha pronounced the sentence on Tuesday after finding Zulkipli Abdullah guilty of killing Aidan Brunger and Neil Dalton, both 22, at Abell Road between 4.10am and 4.15am on Aug 6 last year.
Zulkipli, from Kampung Gersik, had been charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
Justice Chew said Zulkipli's defence, which he made in an unsworn statement at the end of the trial last month, was merely an afterthought and riddled with improbabilities.
"The defence failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case," he said, adding that the court accepted the evidence of witnesses who testified that Zulkipli had attacked the victims.
Newcastle University students Brunger and Dalton were found dead with stab wounds two days before their six-week work placement at Sarawak General Hospital was due to end.

Deputy public prosecutors Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad and Poh Yih Tinn prosecuted the case while Zulkipli was represented by counsel Anthony Tai.

    Raped minor awarded RM200,000

    child rape

SHAH ALAM: For two years, a seven-year-old girl was repeatedly raped by her stepbrother while she stayed with her father and his new wife at their home in Klang.
A High Court here awarded her RM200,000 in damages in a negligence suit brought by her mother against the couple.
Her 34-year-old mother said she was very happy over the award, saying that her daughter had been traumatised by the rape.
“She cried when I told her the news. It has been difficult for her,” the self-employed woman told reporters here yesterday.
In his ruling on Friday, Justice Hashim Hamzah ordered the girl’s father and her stepmother to pay them RM150,000 in general damages and another RM50,000 in exemplary damages.
He also ordered the couple to pay RM20,000 in costs.
According to the statement of claim, the girl, who will turn 12 next month, said she had been staying with her father in Klang after her parents’ divorce in 2007.
She said she was repeatedly raped by her stepbrother when they were staying together at the house from 2010 to May 2012. She only complained to her mother in June 2013.
Her mother subsequently lodged a police report against the stepbrother who was arrested in July 2013 and produced in the Klang’s Court for Children.
The youth, who turned 18 this year, was released on a three-year good behaviour bond after admitting to the rape in 2014.
In their civil claim filed on March 10, 2014, the girl said she had suffered and was under stress, adding that her future was ruined and that she had to start anew elsewhere to avoid insults from her neighbours and friends.
Naming her 59-year-old father, a businessman, and his 52-year-old wife as defendants, they claimed that the couple had failed to take care of her safety and welfare, and be responsible guardians.
In their statement of defence, the couple said the girl had never complained or displayed any extraordinary reaction or behaviour during her stay.
The couple also denied negligence and claimed to have no knowledge over her claims.
Speaking to reporters here yesterday, lawyer Hazizah Kassim said her client was warded at the Klang Hospital for 21 days for inspection and treatment over the rape as well as being among the five witnesses who testified during the trial.
The couple’s lawyer P. Visnuvarman said he would appeal against the court judgment.

A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make a diversion to Morocco after a bomb threat, the airline has confirmed.
The Boeing 777-300ER plane was flying from Istanbul to Sao Paulo when it was diverted to Casablanca airport, where it landed safely at 12.30pm GMT, according to Reuters.
It has been reported that a note was found with the word 'bomb' in the plane's lavatory but a spokesman for Turkish Airlines would not confirm its veracity.
In a statement to the Telegraph, the airline's spokesman said: "Turkish Airlines Istanbul – Sao Paulo flight (TK15, B777 Aircraft, carrying 256 passenger) today has diverted to Casablanca Mohammed V international airport (CMN) after bomb threat.
"The necessary investigation onboard has now terminated and it become clear that the notice in question was untrue.
"Our passengers will be retaken onboard and the flight will continue to Sao Paolo after the termination of cleaning and refuelling processes and after the provision of necessary permissions."
On Sunday, another Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul heading to Tokyo had to turn back soon after take-off because of a note found on the lavatory door.
Turkish media reported the note had the words, 'C4 Cargo' - C-4 is a plastic explosive. Later, it was reported that no explosives had been found on the aircraf
