Three men claim trial for robbing accountant in condominium lift

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men who allegedly ganged up and robbed an accountant in a lift of a condominium at Setapak last month have claimed trial in a Sessions Court here to causing hurt while robbing the woman.
Film crewman Ahmad Shafizi Shafei, trader Muhammad Qusyahreen Zainurdin and technician Mohamad Faizal Shamsudin were charged on Monday with robbing L.L. Lim, 26, and voluntarily causing hurt to her in the main lift of Prima Setapak Condo, Setapak here on Oct 17 at about 11.45pm.
They were charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
Judge Datuk Jagjit Singh Bant Singh later fixed bail at RM20,000 in one surety pending mention on Dec 21.
Judge Jagjit also ordered the trio to report at Sentul police station first and third week each month.
It was reported that a woman was ganged up on in an elevator by two men, who slammed and kicked her around like a rag doll - just for the money in her purse.
The horrifying robbery was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) video, which has gone viral on social media.
The encounter left the victim with two broken teeth and bruises all over her body.
The victim was returning home to her condominium when the two men followed her into the lift at about 11.40pm on Oct 17.
The two men were seen chatting with each other while standing behind Lim in the elevator and only pressed the lift floor button after a few seconds of riding it up.
Moments before the door opened, one suspect gestures with his head to his accomplice, pointing to Lim and then uses his arms to slam the woman against the metal wall of the elevator as the doors opened.
The force knocked the accountant on to her back but her terror was just beginning as the other suspect then grabbed her by her hair and dragged her out of the elevator.
Lim was seen trying to grab the elevator doors but was kicked several times by the men, as the camera became obscured by the closing doors.
Seconds later, the doors reopened to show one suspect counting cash while holding Lim’s broken pink purse. Lim’s legs can be seen lying motionless on the floor.
