Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn, so says the adage, but the reverse is equally true.
Shocking footage from China captured the moments when a man ran over his ex-wife and her lover in front of a police station, Chinese online media company Sina reported.
The incident, which happened on Sept 28 at 9.50am, showed the 30-year-old man, identified as Zhang, getting out of the car to kick the lifeless body of the lover, after the car dragged his body for a few metres.
His ex-wife, 29, surnamed Qin, was flung from the high-speed collision and landed close by the Tianchang city police station entrance situated at Anhui province.
Still fuming with rage, the man ran over to his ex-wife, tossed her body onto the road, and kicked her furiously.
His fury did not end there. The man then jogged over to Qin's lover, surnamed Min, and kicked him a few times again, not before walking back to his ex-wife's body and stamping on her head.
By this time, two men emerged from the police station and managed to restrain the deranged man. Throughout this incident, bystanders including the security guard did not intervene.
According to Sina, Qin survived the attack, while Min, 38, was pronounced dead shortly after emergency services arrived due to the severity of his injuries.
Zhang is in police custody while investigations are ongoing, Sina added.
News website Shanghaiist reported that the attack is thought to be a crime of passion between Qin and Zhang, although the details of their relationship are sketchy.
