Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said while it was Hadi's democratic right to table a private member's bill, he said the PAS leader should go alone if he wanted to violate and defy the PR consensus on hudud.
"No one is questioning Hadi’s democratic right to do so, but what about the right of PR to expect honesty and trust in its dealings with Hadi?" he said in a statement today.
Guan Eng said the issue was no longer just about hudud, which the DAP opposed as being unconstitutional, but also about Hadi's betrayal of the PR consensus.
He said the agreement among the PR parties was that the consent of all three parties must be obtained under the PR platform based on consensus, mutual trust and respect.
"Hadi had obviously failed to secure such a consent from PR. In defending PAS's violation of the PR Common Policy Framework and PR leadership council decisions, Hadi has now said that PAS vision is not just 2020 but 'the afterlife'.
"Is Hadi aware that he is now seen as a Trojan horse for Umno, by helping BN split PR by destroying its carefully built-up consensus since 2008?
"This was based on keeping one’s word, mutual trust and respect, a common agreement that had gained the coalition the support of 52% of Malaysian voters in the last general election."
Guan Eng said PR's survival should not be held hostage by one man, who could declare his right to betray both DAP and PKR, break his promises as and when he liked and unilaterally violated the PR consensus and common policy framework by working with Umno.
DAP had slammed Hadi over his unilateral decision to table a private member’s bill to allow the implementation of the Shariah Criminal Code II Enactment amendments in Kelantan in the current Parliament sitting, which ends on April 9. – March 23, 2015.
