KUALA LUMPUR: The Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa today announced the appointment of Immigration Department Director-General Datuk Aloyah Mamat as the Director-General of the Chief Government Security Office, effective today.
In a statement issued here, Ali said Aloyah’s appointment was to take over from Datuk Johari Jamaluddin who went on mandatory retirement.
“I am confident with her qualifications, experience, knowledge and credibility, Aloyah would continue to lead the Chief Government Security Office in managing the government’s security,” he said. He also expressed his thanks to Johari for his contributions and service to the civil service and country for more than 36 years.
Ali also announced the appointment of the director-general of the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim as the Director-General of Immigration, replacing Aloyah, and effective from the same date.
Aloyah, 58, holds a Bachelor’s Degree (social science) in development studies from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and had served in the civil service for 25 years from Aug 1, 1989.
Experienced in administration, security management, and human resource management, she was appointed to the post of Immigration Director-General on Feb 5, 2014.
Meanwhile, Mustafa, 57, holds a Master’s Degree in International Security from the University of Pittsburgh, United States of America, and had been in the Administrative and Diplomatic service since January 1983.
Experienced in the administration and management of security, he was appointed director-general of RELA on June 20, 2011. Prior to that, he had been the Sabah Director of Security and the Secretary of the Negeri Sembilan and Melaka Security.
On Mustafa’s appointment, Ali said : “I am confident that Mustafa’s qualifications, experience, knowledge and credibility would enable him to lead the Immigration Department and boost the effectiveness of the system,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Budget of the National Budget Office, Datuk Dr Ismail Bakar, was appointed secretary-general of the Transport Ministry from Nov 18 to take over from Datuk Seri Long See Wool who went on mandatory retirement.
He had served for more than 28 years from Jan 13, 1986, and holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Hull, United Kingdom.
Experienced in financial management, economics and procurement, he was appointed the Director of Budget on Jan 20, 2014 and had served as the Director of the National Strategy Unit of the Finance Ministry, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) of the Defence Ministry and was Senior Advisor at the World Bank Headquarters, Washington.
The Finance Division Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Chua Kok Ching had been appointed Deputy Secretary-General (Operations) of the Transport Ministry from today, succeeding Datuk Yap Kin Sian who went on mandatory retirement.
Chua, 56, who holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, United States of America, had served for more than 31 years from Jan 3, 1983, and had wide experience in management and finance. - BERNAMA
