Cops nab man who shot policemen

SHAH ALAM: Police have nabbed the man who is believed to have shot two officers a fortnight ago in Pandan Indah, during a raid in Ipoh on Wednesday.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shukri Dahlan said Ampang police, led by ASP Suhairon Rama, stormed a house in Lorong Gunung Rapat 11 in Taman Cemerlang Rapat, Ipoh at 8pm after having tracked the suspect for over two weeks.
Officers were greeted by a woman who let them in. There they found a 44-year-old man who is believed to be the individual who shot Lance L/Kpl Lional Richard Jr, 26, and Kons Zul Fazli Atlahi, 28.
“Checks on his body revealed that he has a tiger tattoo on his chest. It is consistent with the accounts of the officers.
“We also found two live bullets inside a bag in the house, though we did not find any gun. The suspect has been brought back to Selangor headquarters and is being remanded until April 27,” said Comm Shukri.
He said the suspect, who is from Seri Kembangan, has six criminal offences including drug cases to his name.
“We are still tracking the man’s accomplice. We consider this case shut and are happy that the man who had attacked our officers has been caught,” he said.
In the April 11 incident, Richard and Zul Fazli were shot three times by the suspect who was with another person, believed to be his accomplice.
The incident happened at around 10.30am in Jalan Lembah Maju 1/16, Pandan Indah while the policemen were patrolling the area.
They spotted the two men on a motorcycle behaving suspiciously and stopped them. While they were questioned one of them, the other tried to flee.
The officers gave chase and managed to grab the fleeing suspect’s shirt, revealing the tattoo of the tiger on his back.
The suspect initially tried to hit the policemen with his helmet, but when he missed, he drew a gun and shot at them three times, hitting Lional on his abdomen and Zul Fazli on the lower part of his abdomen.
Both are in stable condition at the Ampang Hospital.
