Police Will Track Down Facebook Users Who Posted Insulting Comment on Thaipusam

Cops after FB user who posted insults on Thaipusam

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will work with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to track down a Facebook user who had allegedly posted an insulting comment on the Thaipusam procession in Batu Caves, says Inspector-General of the Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the authorities would go after the culprit even if he fled overseas.
“We will take stern action against anyone who insults any religion or commits any act which can threaten the public order and safety of the country.
“MCMC is tracking the individual concerned via the service provider.
“We will find the person and make sure he faces the law,” he said after witnessing the handing over of duties and retirement of Federal CID director Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan.
Khalid also said five investigation papers into the incidents surrounding the Allah issue had been opened by the police.
To date, 462 police reports nationwide regarding this issue have been received.

On another matter, Khalid said stern action would be taken against those responsible for banners found outside several Penang churches.
It was reported that the Assumption Church in Penang was hit with a molotov cocktail while the controversial banners were found at five churches
